Palmyra is home. Lounsbury Roofing has been headquartered at 1186 Broken Island Road for decades, and a fair number of the trucks you see headed toward the Rivanna or up to Pleasant Grove probably belong to one of our crews. There's no part of Fluvanna we haven't worked in — Carysbrook, Cunningham, the back roads off Route 53, and of course the homes lining Lake Monticello just to the south.

Roofing in Palmyra is its own thing. Long driveways. Lots of standing-seam metal requests, especially on the older farmhouses. Plenty of homes set on open lots where wind gets a clean shot at a roof from two or three sides. We've replaced more cap metal and reseated more ridge vents around Palmyra than anywhere else in our service area — partly because we know these roads, and partly because rural Fluvanna doesn't have the same stable of contractors a place like Charlottesville does. When something fails out here, neighbors call us, and they tell their neighbors.

The Christmas light show we put on each year at the shop is part of how we say thank you for that. It's also a reminder that we're not a chain, we're not a private-equity rollup, and we haven't moved an inch since Craig started the company in 1975.
